Discover three easy ways to increase your energy levels

Discover three easy ways to increase your energy levels

Do you feel like you become sluggish during the day and have no energy or motivation? You may think a big cup of coffee or an energy drink is the answer to your worries, but this will eventually wear off and make you feel even more drained.

There are some practical and more natural ways to leave the sluggishness behind; we have put together three easy steps below to help you feel more energised this year:

coffee

1. Start your day with gratitude.

Everyone likes to approach their morning differently; some wake up with the energy they need to get through the day. Others may ease into their day more gradually. A good morning routine can help you feel relaxed, alert and most importantly, energised.

Waking up with a feeling of gratitude can start your day off in good spirit and by expressing gratitude, you can increase the neurotransmitter dopamine – the brains feel-good chemical. It allows you to feel more motivated, plus the boost of energy can help tackle goals, daily work, and make you more productive in general.

Take a moment to acknowledge what you have and see the possibilities of what is before you. You can choose happiness and make the most of what the day brings.

One research study by expert Shawn Achor had 400 professionals commit to expressing three gratitudes a day, and after doing so for two weeks, their energy levels increased by 12%. Pausing to take notes of things you are grateful for can help the brain to retrain its pattern of scanning the world to look for positive inputs.

Alternatively, you could end your day with gratitude. It is an opportunity to reflect and wipe the slate clean ready for a new day.

exercise

2. Add 20 minutes of exercise to your day

Tiredness or fatigue may be the most common excuse not to exercise, however, you may be surprised to learn that one of the best ways to boost your energy levels is to exercise more, not less. Luckily, you do not need to do killer workouts to see the benefits, something as simple as a walk around your neighbourhood could do the trick!

Experts suggest that exercise triggers the release of feel-good hormones, more commonly known as endorphins, into the brain and the rest of the body. The feeling that follows exercising can often be described as euphoric and accompany a positive and energising outlook on the rest of your day.

Other studies have found that going for a 10-minute walk when you feel tired is a better pick me up than having a snack, even if it is to the end of your street and back again, the fresh air may help you more than what a nap could.

Schedule your physical activity into your diary or set a reminder on your phone. This way, you have committed to getting away from your desk (or dining table) if you’re working from home. You'll also be more likely to follow through with it.

Additional to walking, other forms of exercise that help include yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi. All three involve moderate movements, which is key to boosting those energy levels. Just remember not to overdo it though, as this could fatigue you even more.

nutritional food

3. Incorporate superfoods, vitamins and minerals into your daily routine

The nutrients, vitamins, and minerals you ingest from foods can provide you with the energy you need throughout the day. They directly support the wellbeing of your body, your overall alertness, and assisting with cellular functions.

Both mental and physical fatigue can be affected by a lack of all three, so incorporating these nutrients within your day can help. You can miss out on them if you don’t eat the right food, so supplements are available to plug the nutritional gap each day in an easily manageable way.

Superfoods are the perfect example of this, providing your body with several antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. They can pack a large nutritional punch per bite compared to other foods because of their blend of different ingredients.

Our award-winning Green Magic formulation has a blend of 16 superfoods and is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals from the featured natural green foods. Each serving also contributes to your five-a-day as well as being high in antioxidants. Incorporate Green Magic superfood powder into your food and drinks to make them more nutrient-dense. A favourite of ours is the superfood pesto, the perfect addition to any pasta dish. Or how about a super smoothie? The combinations are endless!

Vita Balance is a wellness supplement that can provide you with the Vitamin B complex and other nutrients that your body needs.

Did you know that Vitamin B is one of the best vitamins you can take? It works together with the body to absorb food, allowing your cells to turn it into energy. Try taking two Vita Balance tablets in the morning alongside a nutritional breakfast to kick start your day: keeping the tiredness and fatigue away.

Other supplements you may want to try like our Red Magic antioxidant blend capsules and, vitamin D tablets are available from our website.

Why not give these three steps a try and see if it makes a difference to how energised you feel?
